Description
Jonathan S.. Chamness donated the land for this Chamnesstown one-room school
that was built in 1860. The original school had a wood stove and log seats.
The school was rebuilt twice, moved and then abandoned when the government
bought the land. The old school is located near Crab Orchard Lake on Refuge Road.
The storm cellar was constructed in the 20s after a devastating tornado.
